MILLSBORO – The clock is ticking on registration for some time-sensitive fundraisers supporting the Greater Millsboro Chamber of Commerce’s community Stars & Stripes fireworks show Saturday, July 1 in Millsboro.
On deck is a bowling fundraiser April 30 followed by a Paint Nite fundraising activity May 10.
Over Memorial Day weekend, the Greater Millsboro Chamber will host a community-wide yard sale Saturday, May 27 at its downtown office location.
Meanwhile, ongoing fundraising in efforts to reach the $30,000 target goal to cover fireworks and related incidentals include a 50/50 raffle and sale of official special edition Millsboro Stars & Stripes t-shirts.
The fireworks will be launched remotely from Millsboro Pond around dusk on July 1.
The family-friendly, community-based-event begins at Cupola Park at 6 p.m., with food vendors and entertainment, featuring disc jockey/entertainer Sky Brady leading up the fireworks show around 9 p.m.
Registration/signup is April 26 for Paint Nite, which is scheduled for May 10 at the Millsboro Fire Hall.
Cost is $45 per person, which covers all painting materials and supplies as well as wine, finger foods and desserts.
A patriotic summer masterpiece is the fun-filled artistic mission.
“Some people look at this and say it looks pretty intricate but they tell me that someone with no painting skills will be able to paint this, because there is someone there who directs you stroke by stroke,” said Ms. Simmons.
Paint Nite will begin at 7 p.m.

Got some spare time?
A fundraiser supporting the fireworks show might be right down your alley.
The Stars & Strikes bowling fundraiser is set for Sunday, April 30 at Millsboro Bowling Lanes. The event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Organizers are looking for bowlers, preferably four-person teams. Cost is $100 per team ($25 per person). Entry fee includes two hours of bowling, shoe rental, soda ticket and a piece of pizza.
Business lane sponsorship is $100.
For those sponsoring a lane and a four-person team the cost is $175.
RSVP with payment to the chamber office is requested by Friday, April 21.
Trophies will be awarded for: best team score; best male and female scores (17 and under), best male and female scores (18 and up) and worst bowler.
The chamber’s Chelsea Square location between Washington Street and Main Streets is the venue for the May 27 yard sale, which runs from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Vendor fee is $15.
Raffle tickets – $1 each – will be on sale right up to the fireworks on July 1. The drawing will be at 8:45 p.m.
The lucky ticket holder could hit a substantial jackpot.
“Potentially if we sell all tickets someone could win $2,400 that night,” said Ms. Simmons.
A community-based fundraiser is the sale of t-shirts.
Shirts, featuring the Stars & Stripes theme logo, are $25 each. Made by Logo Motive, shirts are available in patriotic red, white or blue in a variety of sizes.
Names of patrons purchasing t-shirts will be posted on the Millsboro chamber’s Facebook page.
“Your support is needed to make this event a ‘blast,’” Millsboro chamber posts via Facebook.
Bank on it!
Additional support has been pledged from local banks.
Fulton Bank has offered a $500 Fulton Bank Challenge and the Farmers Bank of Willards has tendered a $1,000 challenge, Ms. Simmons said.
